Just Because...It's the Season

I'm so Proud of myself! I've got Christmas all Finished besides one gift the whole week before Christmas! I have everything wrapped, and packed into a box so we can take it down to family for the holiday. It feels so good and now I get to just sit back and relax and enjoy the week before Christmas!
I love this time of year and the happiness it brings to people! I think that it's because it's the time when we truly think of others more than ourselves. I was driving home the other night and witnessed a family dropping gifts off on a doorstep and doorbell ditching them. I'm so overwhelmed by the love people show towards others this season. And you think of the economic struggles that people have had to deal with this year and yet they are still willing to GIVE. It simply amazes me how thoughtful people are. It makes me think of the book Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright.

It's about a family who saves their spare change and takes it to someone or a family on Christmas Eve. I just read the book this past November and loved it. I highly recommend it to those of you who have not read it.

I've Also been loving seeing the snow fall everyday for the past 4 days! Even though it hasn't been a down pour, there have at least been flurries and It just helps bring the Christmas spirit into my heart. I watch the neighborhood kids go out and play in the snow and neighbors shovel each others walks. It reminds me of my childhood sledding and having hot chocolate when I come inside and put my feet up by the fire. This is a picture of the first and only snowman Patrick and I have ever built! The next morning it looked like this...

I guess it was too tall for it's own good...and in the wrong place. We must have forgotten that snowmen melt in the SUN! Nonetheless we had lots of fun the night before building it together!
As for this time of year...this friday coming up is special because......our friends Matt and Kenzie are moving up to Logan and will be living in our neighborhood. In fact everyday I look out our front door/windows and I can see their backyard! I'm so excited for them to be here! I'm just hoping and praying that their move goes well with the weather the way it's been lately!

Anyway... After this whole long blog that i've written I wish you all a

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

and a Happy New Year!

Scripture Study and I've learned to say NO!

This is what we have found Porter does when we Read Scriptures! We wonder if he is trying to get our attetion or if it's a curiosity thing, what ever it is... It's the cutest thing ever and makes us laugh so hard!

The whole No No thing we had just taught him that night! And Believe me...he has caught on! In fact he hit is Grandma Munson on the face and right after he shook his head NO! What a little character! After that little incident we have been working on the Nod YES!

Turkey Week!

Our family went to Salt Lake and Utah County for Thanksgiving week. The first two days we stayed at the Little America Hotel in SLC because Patrick had a training for his new internship going on at the hotel both monday and tuesday. It was great and Porter did pretty well sleeping there! Our room wasn't too bad, it was really clean and really nice amenities. We were kinda bummed because it's a 4 star hotel and then got there and our room wasn't much different from any other hotel room we've ever been in. We went swimming and Patrick decided after he went into their locker rooms that Little America REALLY is a 4 star hotel. From his mouth these words came out " I'm Really IMPRESSED!" So patrick was impressed by the pool and locker rooms, and I was impressed by the lobby and front entrance! They had all the christmas lights up and fancy music...plus the bell-hop and the valet parking which made me feel like I was in a romantic movie for some reason!

After an eventful Tuesday with my friend Marianne I have decided that I will never drive downtown Salt Lake ever again! Especially with construction going on and all the NO LEFT TURNS! I really don't like that place.

Turkey Day came and it was pretty laid back but lots of fun! We had our big feast with Patrick's side of the family and then came home and worked on a little craft project which I'm so proud of! I love it! Then Friday we went down to be with my mom. That night Most of my family got together and it was SO GREAT to see them all! I hadn't seen them in about 3 months! It's hard for me to not see them very often but I can't complain LOGAN has been GOOD to us!
So that was our eventful week! Wish I had pictures to show you of all that we did, but we are still waiting to get a new camera!
Anyway we are grateful to all those who put up with us this week! It was so great to see everyone!

This is just a picture of the project I did on Thanksgiving Day! We had lots of fun doing it!

Little MOWGLI

Do you see a Similarity??

Porter is just learning how to get around the house. I say it that way because he doesn't know how to crawl. He's getting better, but for now it's like an inch worm move. He gets up on his toes like Mowgli and brings them up close to his face and then drops. So his body moves further forward. The past two days he's been doing a lot better with actual crawling. He'll move his knees and hands about two movements and then he goes back to the Mowgli walk! We don't really care how he gets around, just as long as he can move around and go where he wants to is what makes us happy! I also have to add that because he's learning how to get up on his feet... yesterday he picked up on how to pull himself up to standing position on our couch! YAY! He is learning and growing so much! Also sorry the pictures aren't the best quality they were taken on my phone because our camera died on us. Bet y'all can guess what we are getting ourselves for christmas!!

Our Scary Halloween!!

CORRECTION! I dressed Skye up as the "Honorary Special-Ed Prom Queen" hence the "I am special" sticker...I know it was a stretch! -Patrick

For our Family Home Evening We had this week before halloween we had a fun activity where we went around the house and found halloween costumes for each other that we could make from what we already have in the home. So...Obviously we have baby things around the house so I dressed Patrick up as a baby( I actually got the idea because I did that when I was a little girl!) Then patrick dressed me up as a "Wanna Be Prom Queen" The sticker on my dress says "I AM SPECIAL" To me I look more like a hill-billy farm girl going to prom! As for Porter-He was a GIRL for halloween! Cuz I have some of my old baby doll clothes that I could put him in laying around the house! Anyways, We had fun doing it and hope you enjoy the pictures.

JUST KIDDIN....Porter was NOT A GIRL for HALLOWEEN!
He was an ADORABLE LION! Thanks to our neighbor who let us borrow this cute costume!

Then these are our pumpkins that we carved! I did the Ghost and Patrick did the Jack-O-Lantern face!

For Halloween Night...We just handed out Candy! We took Porter around to our neighbors houses in our circle and then went to our neighbors for some doughnuts and chili. Then came home and it was a regular night for us. We wished we could have been down south with the Christensen family. We always have a big get together after the trick-or-treating and show off our costumes! I'm sure there will be posted pictures from someone in the fam on their blogs! ANYWAYS--We hope everyone's Halloween was great!

Family Nature Walk

BEWARE there are a lot of NEW POSTS and Video! -We just have so much fun with porter and want to share it all with you!
Yesterday, We all went on a walk. There is a beautiful trail that follows the river right by the Logan River Golf Course! Last year Patrick and I went about this same time of year and decided it would be fun to go again with Porter, because he loves to be outside! We took him out of the stroller and set him in some leaves and let him play and of course first thing he does is put the leaves in his mouth! They didn't stay in his mouth for long because they of course tasted yucky!
Then after the leaves we went and walked over this bridge! I love these pictures! They are absolutely adorable! If you look at the second one and his position...you can tell he's gonna be crawling soon. He can already get up onto all 4s. He just hasn't quite grasped the whole concept. Don't worry i'm Prepared! Already got all the plugs in the wall plugged and we are being careful to not leave small objects on the floor.

This Video is my FAVORITE!! Patrick wanted to skip some rocks in the river so we stopped and pulled over for a minute and then I started throwing big rocks into the river thinking porter would like it. I got no reaction-Probably because I can't hold as heavy rocks that Patrick can. Anyways, Patrick decided to try and it took a minute for Porter to find it entertained him! Soon he was laughing and having a great time!

Sorry the video is blurry...I think it's cuz I trimmed the video down. But it's the sound that's fun anyways!

LAUGHING!!

We have figured out how to laugh and then make Porter Laugh! He's getting the cutest little belly laugh...Check it out!

That was Daddy's video....This is Mommy's Video...(Proof that both of us can make him laugh!)

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Babbling Baby

As you can see, Porter is starting to babble. I absolutely love it and think it's the cutest thing! I sit there and try to mimic him but of course never come close to being as cute as him! After this video I realized I'm gonna have to teach this kid how to #1: Chew with his mouth closed and
#2: To not talk with food in his mouth!

We Got Callings!!

Patrick and I have been callingless for about 7 months. Ever since We had Porter. I know crazy, but when we left our ward and headed for Salt Lake this summer it was pretty obvious we wouldn't have callings for the summer. Then we came back and we never got callings. We waited and waited...Then... we find out that our ward was being split and it's been about 3 weeks since we've been in our new ward and Patrick and I just got set apart to our callings last night.
Patrick has been called to be the 14-18 year old sunday school teacher. He had the same calling when we lived in Ephraim and he enjoyed it, so he's excited to be doing it again! I told him he has to get to know the 14-15 year old girls really well! He asked why and I said BABYSITTING! So I'm really excited for his calling!
I also am excited for my calling! I have been called to be the Compassionate Service Leader! If any of you know what that intales you know that i'm going to be a busy woman! At first I felt pretty overwhelmed a bit nervous because I didn't know what to expect. But then the sunday I got called into the calling and talked to the R.S. President I know that I can do this. I told Patrick I wanted a Calling that I could get to know the people in our ward! Well... I guess you can say with this calling I'm gonna get to know the people in our ward really really well! So I'm way excited and a little nervous, but I've got some great help from Patrick's Mom, who is also the Compassionate Service Leader of her Ward!(Thanks Mom)

Porter's First Snow

Porter enjoyed being out in his first snow storm(if that's what you wanna call it) We hardly got any snow, which kinda bugs us cuz we live in Logan...isn't it supposed to be more cold here and all that? haha NOPE! oh well. Hope y'all enjoy watching the video! p.s.-my advice is to turn the sound down-you don't wanna listen to me talk!

This Video is for Matt and Kenzie, but if any of you are interested in finding out what our house layout is and also what it looks like then feel free to take a gander. PS to Matt and Kenz-When patrick made the video he forgot to show you the garage which is right off the kitchen and then he also forgot to show our walk in closet in the Master Bedroom...it's not a huge walk in but you can walk in! Hope you guys like it enough to move up here!

UPDATE!

Sorry everyone...It's been a while since we last posted. I guess our big news right now is that we are back in Logan living in our own home! We miss all the munsons and get lonely sometimes but it is for the best that we are back on our own. We couldn't be more grateful for their kindness and love that they showed toward us this summer and letting us live with them while Patrick did his internship in Salt Lake!

Right now Patrick is Going to school and taking 18 credit hours as well as working at ATK at the Promontory site. He goes to school at 7:30 in the morning and after school he goes straight to work and doesn't come home til about 7:30 at night. Talk about a long day for his Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays! So he stays really busy.

As for me...Well I'm a stay at home Mom and I love every second of it! Porter brightens my day with every smile, coo and gurgle! We are working on teaching him how to sit up and also roll over on his own! He's pretty close but not quite there. He loves to play in his exer-saucer and he jumps up and down to make loud noises with it...

We Have also been feeding him baby food now and He loves all of it except for Peas which we tried last night... Don't worry we got video and i'll post that on here later. We are pretty sure his favorite is Sweet Potatoes and boy can this kid EAT!

HIKING TRIP!

We decided to go for a Hike and make it
a big family thing...so we took almost 5
month old Porter with us.
In some ways we felt stupid and even felt bad
for even thinking of bringing Porter with us.
He was a very happy kid until the last 5 min
of our hike up to the top! He got kinda sick of being
Straped in and dangling from Patrick's Back.
Can't you Tell? Not to mention he was very tired

Porter was zonked! But he only slept for about
30 minutes of our hike on the way up!

We had so much fun once we got upto the top!
We relaxed and put our feet in the FREEZING
Cold water!

On the way back we decided to try Putting Porter
In the front! He sure was a much happier kid being
carried in the front! Patrick said to me that next time
I'm pregnant we are going Hiking! haha what a tease!

First Hair Cut

We had my Mom cut Porters hair for the first time.
Porter was very good as you can see it's because we decided to
cut his hair while feeding him his bottle.
This was actually quite a while ago almost a whole month ago.
We are so good at updating everyone!

What A STUD!

We put Porter in this Outfit for Church today and we

loved it so much we had to take pictures of him in it.

Well we ended up with a few silly ones and thought we'd

share them with you! hope you enjoy them!

4th of July

For the 4th we went to my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Gary's House! Everyone went to the parade and then came back and we had a big BBQ and just enjoyed being with one another. Then around 8pm we went down to the fields to watch fireworks! They played Music while everyone was just hanging out waiting for it to get dark. Then they played music throughout the fireworks, it was pretty neat cuz i'd never really seen that done before. They tried to make the fireworks shoot off on the rhythm, and they were pretty darn close a few times!

This was Porter's first 4th of July! We were wondering how he was going to handle the fireworks. We were trying to figure out if he would sleep through them or if he was awake would he freak out cuz of the noise, because he's been pretty jumpy lately. He actually did really well and sat in awe while looking at the pretty colors flash in the sky. He wouldn't take his eyes off them.

We absolutely enjoyed being around our cousins and family! This picture is of Porter(3months) and Brystal(7months). Brystal is our cousins little girl! She is absolutely adorable!

Tummy Television

This is how Porter does two things at once! He's getting tummy
time done as well as enjoying watching T.V. He really enjoyed
watching Wipeout last night!

The Cuteness!

This is our Little Fireman! My Hero! My sister,Paige, let me borrow some of her old baby clothes and when I saw this outfit I got really excited, because patrick loves firetrucks. Which is why we have a little firetruck that Porter can ride on when he's older. ANyways, I knew I had to take this outfit and have a picture taken! He was about 2 1/2 months old in this picture.( I know it's been a while since we've blogged)
Our Good friends, The Mortons, invited us to a Bees game. We weren't so thrilled to see a baseball game but decided it would be an awesome opportunity to see our friends and hang out. We went and enjoyed ourselves very much-As you can tell so did Porter. His first baseball game and Wow was he alert and enjoying his surroundings!

Just keep Swimming Swimming Swimming

This is Porters first experience swimming! Patrick's Mom gave me Patrick's old swimsuits and this one was small enough to fit him when we went to Paiges for Memorial Day weekend! Jenae was kind enough to let us use one of Joshua's old swim diapers from last season so we could actually take him in the pool. When we first got in the water Porter was kinda shocked cuz it was a little bit cold for his liking. So he cried for a second and then we held him tight and close to our bodies to keep him warm and feel safe. He enjoyed it for a while but was skeptical of what was going on! What a cute kid!

FATHERS

HELP!! Patrick and I have been asked to speak in church on Fathers day! I seem to be having a hard time figuring out what to talk about. Which seems to be really weird because it's super easy especially when you have such a super great dad that you could talk forever about. I think that is actually why i'm struggling because i'm only supposed to speak for 7-10 min and like i said I could talk forever I have so much i could say! So if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful!

Our New Truck!

Look at our new truck! We are so excited to have this new car! It's a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. We love it because it's a 4WD and it's a Truck for patrick's use and a family size car for my use!
