August 2011

This month was a fun month! We tried really hard to fit as much as possible into our month.  It started out with our ward camp-out. We decided not to stay the night because we wanted to be nice to our ward family and not put them through a night of dreadfulness with our kids. It was themed Superheros and people came dressed up as superheros. There were blowup bouncy houses and fun things. I enjoyed being a kid racing on a bouncy house a couple of times! Also at the start of the month we worked on our Adirondack chairs. a lady that Patrick works with gave them to us and they  needed some work done. So we sanded and painted them! It was a fun project.
We enjoyed a 5 1/2 day family vacation to Park City. That was probably the highlight of our month. We enjoyed bike rides and a "Fun" shopping trip to the outlets. I say "fun" because if you have kids then you understand how fun it can be to shop with them! We went swimming and Grandpa got Porter jumping into the pool and then eventually going under and swimming all on his own (of course he was wearing floaties). We were so proud of him. We tried to take family pictures there, that was kinda a flop but we at least got some of the Munson family. That was really good! We had fun on evening riding the bus over to catch a Trolley and riding that! Porter really loved that and then walking up and down main street. It was an enjoyable evening. And another evening we played minute to win it games. I was in charge of planning some games for the Christensen reunion which was to follow a few weeks later. So we practiced some with the munson family and it was a hit! (You'll hear about the Christensen minute to win it later) Our favorite that night was Junk in the Trunk where you shake the ping pong balls out of a tissue box tied around your waist! Porter really enjoyed playing that game! see for yourself the fun that we had:( I can't load Patrick's... but I will soon.. his is pretty funny!)
Then on our last day we went and did the alpine slide/coaster and the kids rode a space track(which is a little train) and the merry-go-round! They loved the merry go round!!! Patrick and I did the slide and coaster later that evening with just us and JD and Lacy. We really enjoyed that little date night with them. Some memories we will always carry with us. It was fun watching Patrick get all scared to go on the slide...then to find out I'm the one who braked almost the whole way down. Then the real terror set in when we were on the coaster going up the hill. Patrick screamed like a girl and braked... I remember yelling at him saying STOP BRAKING! It really is better if you don't brake. You won't get hurt it's just like a roller coaster if you just let yourself go! It was lots of fun even if it was a little damaging on the wallet. We took some good naps, played fun games, watched some fun shows and ate good food. Doesn't that sound like a good family vacation?! We sure thought so!
We got back from our vacation and the next night Patrick and Porter left for the stake Father and Sons. They had a good time together and Porter enjoyed sleeping in the van.
This month has been filled with playing chalk and bubbles LOTS. Enjoyed seeing the fruits of our garden, bike rides, walks and Patrick participated in a stake golf tourney. We also went to Patrick's work summer Party. We went to Pine view and played in the water and went on the boat...watched Patrick get thrown on the tube and ate good food.

So if you were to ask us did we have a fun month? the answer is YES!! We loved the month of August and honestly wish it would hang around a little longer.

Turkey Week!

Our family went to Salt Lake and Utah County for Thanksgiving week. The first two days we stayed at the Little America Hotel in SLC because Patrick had a training for his new internship going on at the hotel both monday and tuesday. It was great and Porter did pretty well sleeping there! Our room wasn't too bad, it was really clean and really nice amenities. We were kinda bummed because it's a 4 star hotel and then got there and our room wasn't much different from any other hotel room we've ever been in. We went swimming and Patrick decided after he went into their locker rooms that Little America REALLY is a 4 star hotel. From his mouth these words came out " I'm Really IMPRESSED!" So patrick was impressed by the pool and locker rooms, and I was impressed by the lobby and front entrance! They had all the christmas lights up and fancy music...plus the bell-hop and the valet parking which made me feel like I was in a romantic movie for some reason!

After an eventful Tuesday with my friend Marianne I have decided that I will never drive downtown Salt Lake ever again! Especially with construction going on and all the NO LEFT TURNS! I really don't like that place.

Turkey Day came and it was pretty laid back but lots of fun! We had our big feast with Patrick's side of the family and then came home and worked on a little craft project which I'm so proud of! I love it! Then Friday we went down to be with my mom. That night Most of my family got together and it was SO GREAT to see them all! I hadn't seen them in about 3 months! It's hard for me to not see them very often but I can't complain LOGAN has been GOOD to us!
So that was our eventful week! Wish I had pictures to show you of all that we did, but we are still waiting to get a new camera!
Anyway we are grateful to all those who put up with us this week! It was so great to see everyone!

This is just a picture of the project I did on Thanksgiving Day! We had lots of fun doing it!

Our Scary Halloween!!

CORRECTION! I dressed Skye up as the "Honorary Special-Ed Prom Queen" hence the "I am special" sticker...I know it was a stretch! -Patrick

For our Family Home Evening We had this week before halloween we had a fun activity where we went around the house and found halloween costumes for each other that we could make from what we already have in the home. So...Obviously we have baby things around the house so I dressed Patrick up as a baby( I actually got the idea because I did that when I was a little girl!) Then patrick dressed me up as a "Wanna Be Prom Queen" The sticker on my dress says "I AM SPECIAL" To me I look more like a hill-billy farm girl going to prom! As for Porter-He was a GIRL for halloween! Cuz I have some of my old baby doll clothes that I could put him in laying around the house! Anyways, We had fun doing it and hope you enjoy the pictures.

JUST KIDDIN....Porter was NOT A GIRL for HALLOWEEN!
He was an ADORABLE LION! Thanks to our neighbor who let us borrow this cute costume!

Then these are our pumpkins that we carved! I did the Ghost and Patrick did the Jack-O-Lantern face!

For Halloween Night...We just handed out Candy! We took Porter around to our neighbors houses in our circle and then went to our neighbors for some doughnuts and chili. Then came home and it was a regular night for us. We wished we could have been down south with the Christensen family. We always have a big get together after the trick-or-treating and show off our costumes! I'm sure there will be posted pictures from someone in the fam on their blogs! ANYWAYS--We hope everyone's Halloween was great!

UPDATE!

Sorry everyone...It's been a while since we last posted. I guess our big news right now is that we are back in Logan living in our own home! We miss all the munsons and get lonely sometimes but it is for the best that we are back on our own. We couldn't be more grateful for their kindness and love that they showed toward us this summer and letting us live with them while Patrick did his internship in Salt Lake!

Right now Patrick is Going to school and taking 18 credit hours as well as working at ATK at the Promontory site. He goes to school at 7:30 in the morning and after school he goes straight to work and doesn't come home til about 7:30 at night. Talk about a long day for his Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays! So he stays really busy.

As for me...Well I'm a stay at home Mom and I love every second of it! Porter brightens my day with every smile, coo and gurgle! We are working on teaching him how to sit up and also roll over on his own! He's pretty close but not quite there. He loves to play in his exer-saucer and he jumps up and down to make loud noises with it...

We Have also been feeding him baby food now and He loves all of it except for Peas which we tried last night... Don't worry we got video and i'll post that on here later. We are pretty sure his favorite is Sweet Potatoes and boy can this kid EAT!

HIKING TRIP!

We decided to go for a Hike and make it
a big family thing...so we took almost 5
month old Porter with us.
In some ways we felt stupid and even felt bad
for even thinking of bringing Porter with us.
He was a very happy kid until the last 5 min
of our hike up to the top! He got kinda sick of being
Straped in and dangling from Patrick's Back.
Can't you Tell? Not to mention he was very tired

Porter was zonked! But he only slept for about
30 minutes of our hike on the way up!

We had so much fun once we got upto the top!
We relaxed and put our feet in the FREEZING
Cold water!

On the way back we decided to try Putting Porter
In the front! He sure was a much happier kid being
carried in the front! Patrick said to me that next time
I'm pregnant we are going Hiking! haha what a tease!
