Fall Leaves

We took advantage of the weekend to go take a look at the GORGEOUS fall leaf colors. We drove up the canyon and were amazed by the BRIGHT colors! My personal favorite were the Fire red and orange trees! Absolutely gorgeous!

While we were picking some leaves Porter found the river and loved to look at it! We then taught him to throw rocks into the river and we were in big trouble after that. He didn't want to stop to go home! He had soo much fun doing that! Patrick decided to try and teach him to spit off the bridge into the water! GREAT DAD! Way to be a good example! Porter DID pick up on it and was blowing bubbles that wouldn't drop off his chin! We had lots of fun and we are glad we were able to beat the cold weather that's supposed to come and ruin all the pretty colors!

2 Artists and a Mommy Labor Bag

Lately I've been on a HUGE crafting kick. All I wanna do is make things cute and fun! So... if you have any great Ideas...let me know!
Anyway...I made this...

and I LOVE it!!! It turned out a lot better than I was expecting it to.

Porter is our 2nd artist in the house. He did this...

UH-OH!!! That's a BIG NO NO!!! I watched him do it... I looked at him and told him NO don't even think about it! right as I'm going to get the crayon out of his hand, BOOM he scribbles on the wall while he gets a quick chance. What a stinker!

And... I saw this on GTU and thought that is a great Idea. I'm trying to think of other things I can do, like smaller containers for my camera or other things I might need on hand right there by my bed after I have the baby. I really can't remember EVERYTHING I wished I had by me after I had Porter, so any ideas there would be appreciated!

Trip to G-Ma and G-Pa's

Porter is growing up SOOO fast! While at Mom and Dad's building the bunk beds Porter got to go play in the back yard which includes a garden full with raspberries that Grandpa would share with him and a little playground set. He has never done very well with playgrounds and is always afraid of the slide, so we thought he'll love to play in the sand box at least. Here is a play by play of his enjoyment on the playground! Lots of pictures but they show how he's growing up!

Which he did LOVE the sand box! (he is such a Poser!)

He LOVED the swings and learned to say "Wee" on them and whenever he wanted to go on the swings that's all he would have to say and we knew what he wanted!

The first time out there he just started going up the steps and I freaked a little, but he did GREAT all by himself! Ever since then I let him do it and he would climb and climb!

He'd go look out over the back yard and watch everyone and he could hear the neighbors dog so he was looking for the dog almost all the time!

Then he would come to the edge and you'd have to hold your hand out to help him sit down to go down the slide, and he enjoyed that quite a bit

He is clapping and cheering for himself going down the slide!

and drive the space ship or car or whatever he imagined it was!
Porter was so proud of himself that weekend and anytime he was in that backyard playing he knew he was a big boy and it was like he had this confidence about himself that he could do anything! Sad thing is that he did get stung by a bee while we were there! Good thing... We know he's not allergic! Poor little guy!

Bunk Beds

Patrick and I decided we wanted to make Bunk Beds! We mulled over the decision to just buy a toddler bed for Porter or a regular twin for him to move to next. We decided that we should just skip the toddler bed for now and put him in a twin. We felt the toddler bed was kind of a waste of money for us. So I thought we should make bunk beds for when family comes to visit there is another bed, plus why not...we will have more than one kid to put into a twin at some point!

SO...I looked online for bunk beds that I liked that we could possibly make for ourselves and once I found the PERFECT one, Patrick put together all the measurements and figured everything out for how to make this work just for us and to our personal liking! BOY did he do an amazing job!
Patrick and Dad spent a lot of time working on these beds and they did a TeRRRific Job! It took about a total of about 5 days to get these suckers completed! One night we had everyone, Mom, JD, Myself, Patrick and Dad all out in the Garage Sanding down the wood!

This was the last day of them working on the beds! Making sure everything was just right!
And here they are COMPLETED, put together in the bedroom with bedding on them!
They are such sturdy beds! A 7 year old could jump on them and they wouldn't budge! The men did a great job building them! The color could have been a little bit more cream to our liking, but they still look great and it's a bed!

As soon as we got the bed together Porter hopped up there and started jumping and then would lay down and rest on the pillow! HE KNOWS that is HIS bed! He even came and looked out the end of the bed like it was a little window just for him! I'm so proud of Patrick and Dad and all their hard work they put into the beds! I LOVE the beds and am excited to get to work on the rest of the room. I was so impatient with the building process, because I wanted them to be done and in the room so I could visualize it and start figuring out the rest. Thank you ALL who helped with the beds and helped with Porter while Patrick worked and I was lazy! We appreciate all of your time and talents put into this beautiful project!
