Porter started pre-school about 2 weeks ago. I'm just barely getting around to posting about it. He loves pre-school and enjoys that structured learning/play time. It's taught him a lot of things already! (good and bad) But it's been great. Here is what I wrote down sort of as a journal that first day of school. It is kinda long and like I said more for my own remembrance than for share, feel free to read it though.

Wednesday, September 7, 2011:

This morning Porter started his first day of Pre-School. We woke up and had a great morning. Started it off with having prayer with Dad and then breakfast. I asked Porter what he wanted for breakfast and he insisted on Pop-tarts. Yes! I’m that good of a Mom and gave my son Pop-tarts the morning of his first day of school. Don’t worry I made the meal a little more healthy with a banana. Hopefully that will tide him over til snack time. J  He was super excited to go to preschool and play with the Thomas the Train and the Bob the Builder toys. I had to tell him he’ll be doing more than just playing with toys there.  He was still pretty excited. We got ready and I took pictures of him with his backpack on. Went out the door, loaded the van up and drove to preschool. Four minutes later we arrived and I went to get Porter out of the car and it dawned on me… I didn’t even do his hair!! I felt awful. But the kid is still  cute even if his hair isn’t wet and looking done. (We all know by the time I pick him up it would look like I didn’t do it anyway, so cut me some slack) Porter jumped out of the van and got his backpack on and was running toward the door. I had to tell him to wait so Kinley and I could catch up to him.  Once we walked in I helped Porter hang his backpack on his cubby hook.  Then he started walking over toward the toys ready to play. As he was looking for some cool toys I couldn’t help but see in him his eagerness to play yet also his nervousness and feeling a little bit out of place because he didn’t know ANYONE! I tried to help him meet some kids and share toys with them.  Then stand back and watch a little bit. I am his Mom and of course I worried the entire time he was away from me. Before I left I made sure he knew where the bathroom was and pointed out his teachers to him. Who knows if he even got it, he was so into playing with the cool new toys.  Then I walked out that door not quite understanding the emotions I was feeling. I was excited for him and yet nervous. Wondering if he’d make friends, if he’d be good, if he’d forget where the bathroom was and go in his pants, if he’d do well with new environment and how he’d adapt(mostly WITHOUT me).  For me I was feeling some regret of leaving my child in that environment and making him learn and fend for himself. (silly me I know the teachers were there, but he has not yet learned to trust them) Yet I knew he was just fine.  In fact he probably was going to have a great time!
Then it was time for pick up. Kinley fell asleep because she was bored and tired while he was gone and got about a 35 minute nap and I had to wake her up to go pick him up. Welcome to the life of a real mom with older kids. (haha I just mentioned as if I have OLDER kids!) So we are on our way and Kinley is buzzing because she is so excited to see Porter. And I am feeding off her excitement. I missed him so much while he was gone. I was counting down the minutes til it was time to pick him up. We pull up and I see him outside with all of his classmates waiting for their parents in the drive way. He sees me and I wave while I park. I open the door and turn to go get him and he is running with the BIGGEST grin on his face towards me. Backpack on and bouncing on his back and arms wide open! As he gets closer I see a picture hung on a string around his neck and a bright red spot of something on his shirt. Leave it to Porter to be the one who comes home from preschool on the first day with bright red paint on his shirt! I didn’t care though. I was so excited to see him. I gave him a huge hug and almost didn’t want to put him down in his car seat. He was bursting to tell me everything he did at school. I was shocked ! He doesn’t normally know how to answer my question of “What did you do?” Yet he told me that he played toys (Thomas and lightning Mcqueen to be exact) He colored and had snack and even some smarties!  I asked him if he made friends and he said “Yeah!” I asked him if he knew their names but he replied “No.”  When we got home he couldn’t wait to open his backpack up and show me everything he did. We pulled in the garage and next thing I know his backpack is open and he is trying to show me everything in the van. I had to encourage him to show me inside. So then he runs inside just bubbling over with excitement of the neat things he did. Sure enough there were two handprints in red paint and a picture of an apple painted with red finger paint! He was really proud of himself and so am I!
And as for kinley…they were both very happy to see each other. We walked in the door and after showing me his pictures he immediately got down on the ground and helped Kinley take off her shoes. Both with big smiles on their faces. Adorable!!  Such a good day!

Trip to G-Ma and G-Pa's

Porter is growing up SOOO fast! While at Mom and Dad's building the bunk beds Porter got to go play in the back yard which includes a garden full with raspberries that Grandpa would share with him and a little playground set. He has never done very well with playgrounds and is always afraid of the slide, so we thought he'll love to play in the sand box at least. Here is a play by play of his enjoyment on the playground! Lots of pictures but they show how he's growing up!
ENJOY!

Which he did LOVE the sand box! (he is such a Poser!)

He LOVED the swings and learned to say "Wee" on them and whenever he wanted to go on the swings that's all he would have to say and we knew what he wanted!

The first time out there he just started going up the steps and I freaked a little, but he did GREAT all by himself! Ever since then I let him do it and he would climb and climb!

He'd go look out over the back yard and watch everyone and he could hear the neighbors dog so he was looking for the dog almost all the time!

Then he would come to the edge and you'd have to hold your hand out to help him sit down to go down the slide, and he enjoyed that quite a bit

He is clapping and cheering for himself going down the slide!

while he was up there he loved to look out over the edge,

and drive the space ship or car or whatever he imagined it was!
Porter was so proud of himself that weekend and anytime he was in that backyard playing he knew he was a big boy and it was like he had this confidence about himself that he could do anything! Sad thing is that he did get stung by a bee while we were there! Good thing... We know he's not allergic! Poor little guy!

Sick Baby Boy...

Poor baby Porter! He's had a cough since Christmas and the past week or so he hasn't been eating so great and lets just say there have been squirts involved too. Hasn't been fun clean up the past week or so. We decided to take him to the Doctor and they said he's just got a virus, but we needed to do this breathing treatment three times a day for the next week and then come back and see him. So Porter gets to sit still for 8 minutes 3 times a day and listen to this loud noise of the machine. He's getting better and doesn't even cry when we do it now. We've been doing it for about 3 days now and last night before bed he fell asleep while doing it.

He has been so tired during the day and just isn't feeling well he follows me around the house and will just cuddle me. This picture is one where he decided to cuddle my let and rest his head on my foot. Do you think his nose is clogged and he can't smell anything? Weird kid...ANyways...I couldn't resist taking a photo! It was just to funny and cute!

Scripture Study and I've learned to say NO!

This is what we have found Porter does when we Read Scriptures! We wonder if he is trying to get our attetion or if it's a curiosity thing, what ever it is... It's the cutest thing ever and makes us laugh so hard!

The whole No No thing we had just taught him that night! And Believe me...he has caught on! In fact he hit is Grandma Munson on the face and right after he shook his head NO! What a little character! After that little incident we have been working on the Nod YES!

Little MOWGLI

Do you see a Similarity??

Porter is just learning how to get around the house. I say it that way because he doesn't know how to crawl. He's getting better, but for now it's like an inch worm move. He gets up on his toes like Mowgli and brings them up close to his face and then drops. So his body moves further forward. The past two days he's been doing a lot better with actual crawling. He'll move his knees and hands about two movements and then he goes back to the Mowgli walk! We don't really care how he gets around, just as long as he can move around and go where he wants to is what makes us happy! I also have to add that because he's learning how to get up on his feet... yesterday he picked up on how to pull himself up to standing position on our couch! YAY! He is learning and growing so much! Also sorry the pictures aren't the best quality they were taken on my phone because our camera died on us. Bet y'all can guess what we are getting ourselves for christmas!!

LAUGHING!!

We have figured out how to laugh and then make Porter Laugh! He's getting the cutest little belly laugh...Check it out!

That was Daddy's video....This is Mommy's Video...(Proof that both of us can make him laugh!)

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Babbling Baby

As you can see, Porter is starting to babble. I absolutely love it and think it's the cutest thing! I sit there and try to mimic him but of course never come close to being as cute as him! After this video I realized I'm gonna have to teach this kid how to #1: Chew with his mouth closed and
#2: To not talk with food in his mouth!

What A STUD!

We put Porter in this Outfit for Church today and we

loved it so much we had to take pictures of him in it.

Well we ended up with a few silly ones and thought we'd

share them with you! hope you enjoy them!

4th of July

For the 4th we went to my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Gary's House! Everyone went to the parade and then came back and we had a big BBQ and just enjoyed being with one another. Then around 8pm we went down to the fields to watch fireworks! They played Music while everyone was just hanging out waiting for it to get dark. Then they played music throughout the fireworks, it was pretty neat cuz i'd never really seen that done before. They tried to make the fireworks shoot off on the rhythm, and they were pretty darn close a few times!

This was Porter's first 4th of July! We were wondering how he was going to handle the fireworks. We were trying to figure out if he would sleep through them or if he was awake would he freak out cuz of the noise, because he's been pretty jumpy lately. He actually did really well and sat in awe while looking at the pretty colors flash in the sky. He wouldn't take his eyes off them.

We absolutely enjoyed being around our cousins and family! This picture is of Porter(3months) and Brystal(7months). Brystal is our cousins little girl! She is absolutely adorable!

Tummy Television

This is how Porter does two things at once! He's getting tummy
time done as well as enjoying watching T.V. He really enjoyed
watching Wipeout last night!

The Cuteness!

This is our Little Fireman! My Hero! My sister,Paige, let me borrow some of her old baby clothes and when I saw this outfit I got really excited, because patrick loves firetrucks. Which is why we have a little firetruck that Porter can ride on when he's older. ANyways, I knew I had to take this outfit and have a picture taken! He was about 2 1/2 months old in this picture.( I know it's been a while since we've blogged)
Our Good friends, The Mortons, invited us to a Bees game. We weren't so thrilled to see a baseball game but decided it would be an awesome opportunity to see our friends and hang out. We went and enjoyed ourselves very much-As you can tell so did Porter. His first baseball game and Wow was he alert and enjoying his surroundings!

Just keep Swimming Swimming Swimming

This is Porters first experience swimming! Patrick's Mom gave me Patrick's old swimsuits and this one was small enough to fit him when we went to Paiges for Memorial Day weekend! Jenae was kind enough to let us use one of Joshua's old swim diapers from last season so we could actually take him in the pool. When we first got in the water Porter was kinda shocked cuz it was a little bit cold for his liking. So he cried for a second and then we held him tight and close to our bodies to keep him warm and feel safe. He enjoyed it for a while but was skeptical of what was going on! What a cute kid!
