I figure I always blog about Porter so now it's Patrick's turn! He made me laugh so hard last night and many of you probably won't find it funny at all, but I thought of this blog entry more as a journal piece for my kids to read later and get an insight to what their Dad is like. Anyways, two nights ago I asked Patrick if he wanted to make some Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and he wasn't so interested. Then Last night I hear him doing something in the kitchen and I asked him from the other room what he was doing. He replies, "Nothing!" "Doesn't sound like Nothing" I said Then I hear more banging and stiring and the fridge door opening and shutting. So I asked again what he was making and he replied back again saying "Nothing" After this going on a few times I finally said " You're making Ice Cream aren't you?" Immediately he says "JERK!" HAHA I thought that was so funny! I guess he had wanted to surprise me with the Ice Cream thinking all the noise would go unnoticed! Yeah RIGHT!! And I go and ruin the surprise by guessing!
Due to many people wondering how porter is...I have decided to update everyone on our little sick Porter. He is doing much better. He is actually almost 100% better. Still has a little cough but he is on his way to 100% good health! YAY! Also he's on his way to becoming 1 years old. It's not even a full 2 months away! I can't believe how old and big he is getting! It's not fair! They are supposed to stay little! Although I do have to say that I LOVE the stage he is in and all the things he is learning! He is saying momma and dadda, which i'm still trying to figure out if he really knows what he is saying, but it's still great to hear him babbling. Mostly his language is just shrieking screams. So when he does babble it makes both mom and dad happy!
Well I took Porter in a week ago for a follow up appointment and ended up taking him to the ER to have X-rays done. They thought he might have bronchial pneumonia, but since he hasn't had a fever they weren't so sure. So the X-ray told them for sure that YES he does have bronchial pneumonia. The Doctor doesn't want to be overly aggressive about it though so we are still doing the nebulizer treatments and giving him some Claritin to help with the symptoms. His diarrhea is getting much better and he's eating like we've never even fed him before and he is STARVING. He just seems like he can't get enough of food. So I'm happy about that! And hoping he can get over this pneumonia thing quickly!
Poor baby Porter! He's had a cough since Christmas and the past week or so he hasn't been eating so great and lets just say there have been squirts involved too. Hasn't been fun clean up the past week or so. We decided to take him to the Doctor and they said he's just got a virus, but we needed to do this breathing treatment three times a day for the next week and then come back and see him. So Porter gets to sit still for 8 minutes 3 times a day and listen to this loud noise of the machine. He's getting better and doesn't even cry when we do it now. We've been doing it for about 3 days now and last night before bed he fell asleep while doing it. He has been so tired during the day and just isn't feeling well he follows me around the house and will just cuddle me. This picture is one where he decided to cuddle my let and rest his head on my foot. Do you think his nose is clogged and he can't smell anything? Weird kid...ANyways...I couldn't resist taking a photo! It was just to funny and cute!
Just beware...LOTS AND LOTS of PICTURES!! So we were everywhere for Christmas this year. For a few days we were with Patrick's side of the family and then we were with My side of the family for about a week then back up to Patrick's family for another few days.
We opened presents with Patrick's immediate family Tuesday night before Christmas. It was fun watching Porter and his reaction to opening the presents. Obviously being 9 months old he didn't really know what was going on. Once the paper was off the presents you would think he'd be all hyped up to play with the wrapping paper and bows, but ...Nope...he was excited for the toys and enjoyed the pictures on the boxes of the toys. This also held true on Christmas Day!
Porter got the bouncing horse that you can hook up to the TV and play games while you bounce on the horse. He loves it and goes up to it and stands next to it and starts to bounce up and down lighting up to the sound of the music.
As y’all have noticed lately we have been putting up a lot of videoinstead of pictures. Well there is a reason for doing so. It was because our camera broke and didn’t have one. Patrick’s parents got us a brand new Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera and we LOVE IT! Along with that we got an external hard drive, and a card table. Lacy, Patrick’s sister, gave us a shredder which we have been dying to have! So this night turned out to be a lot of fun for us!
Then Christmas Eve we spent with the Christensen Family. We enjoyed a program where everyone in the family was supposed to do something whether it be a song, a story a poem, skit, whatever it be and Patrick and I got out of it…HOW LUCKY could we have been? Haha My mom didn’t believe me when I told her that we didn’t know, but really we didn’t know and had nothing planned. But don’t you fret Christensen family….we’ll be ready next time. We’ve already got something planned!
Then as tradition we read the story of Jesus and had homemade eggnog and even Caroled over the phone to our dear family friends the Skeens. It was a great night and turned out lots better than I thought it could ever be without my Dad being there. The kids had lots of fun acting out the story as they all played dress up and tried to be angels, the star, mary and joseph, etc…
The Nativity Story
Porter with Uncle Brandon ( who just ate Porter up and loved playing with him)
Porter with Aunt Jenae
Speaking of Uncle Brandon and how he loves to play...EVERY and I mean EVERY Christensen get together involves Brandon and the kids wrestling! All the kids trying to take him down! One day he will be out numbered as well as physically older!
Christmas day we woke up and SANTAAND HIS REINDEER CAME!! All the milk and cookies we set out were gone and the carrots had been nibbled on! We were so excited! We ran around the room saying “OH Boy that’s MINE…Oh boy that’s MINE!!!” (any of you who are as enthralled in the Christmas Story Marathon will appreciate that joke!) We opened gifts and after as tradition has been we had abelskievers(sp?)Later that evening we went to my brothers house and had dinner, gave white elephant gifts, which consisted of a box of chocolates all bitten into, half eaten.A plumbers bum crack underwear, and an apron. Patrick and I actually got lucky and played the game right and ended up with a gift certificate to the Cinemark theater. What fun we had. There was a storm going crazy that night. It was crazy winds and they actually had shut down highland highway and we needed to take that road to get home. We ended up taking back roads and it took us 25 minutes to get home when it would normally have taken us 5. It was really hard to seeout our windshieldthat night but we made it home safely.
Porter loved his toys he got for Christmas!
Patrick Enjoyed opening his presents this year!
This is what it looked like under the tree after we opened all our presents! Plus if you look out the window you can see what a white Christmas it was!
Our LOVELY white elephant gift!
Over the break we took advantage of my Mom and had her babysit while we went and saw a movie. Which was 7 pounds… I can’t say much about the movie without giving away the ending so I’ll just say… if you liked pursuit of happiness you’ll like this movie!I also decided that I would try and get into the TWILIGHT series…I’ve never been a big reader –I’ve always hated reading..until now…This book is intoxicating! SO good and I’m worried that when I finish the fourth book I’ll go through withdrawls. So if anyone has any advice or a good book that I can get into afterwords...PLEASE let me know!
The week after Christmas we were at Patrick’s parents. We spent New Years eve just hanging out. Patrick built a clock and some shelves for us which have yet to be finished. And I made a little block saying “Let it Snow!” See the picture… We had lots of fun and hope y’all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
